About a year and a half ago I had some medical problems that ran up a decent sized bill even after insurace. I went on a payment plan and paid it off in Sept 2009.

About two months ago I got another bill that said I owed them another $500. I called to ask a why and they said they had been disputing this part of the bill with my (old) insurance company and the claim had finally been declined. I have not paid on that bill yet. I had to take a pay cut to keep a job and money is very tight for me.

But my real question I have a Doctors appointment this week with a different doctor, but also part of the CMC system. Does anyone know if I will be asked to pay my past due amount before my visit or just my co-payment.

They may ask if you want to pay it but they won't demand that you do. Tell them you'll wait for another statement.

I had some bills from my surgery last year with CMC. My primary with CMC never cared about the surgery bills, only about their own copay.
