A question for Jewish residents (re:Bat Mitzvah's)...
One thing I am curious about. Is where most of the Jewish families have their Bar/Bat Mitzvah receptions. Are they mainly held at the temples or is it like up here where some do and others have it at restaurants/banquet halls?
Thanks!

I don't know about Charlotte but in Cleveland, most have the ceremonies at the temple and then the receptions else where.

Most I know are having the receptions at hotels or halls with the kiddush at the Temple. The only issue we have run into (Bar Mitzvah this December...eeek!) is that some of our extended family is observant, and it is difficult to find places that are Kosher. Aside from the Temple, I know the Westin did (maybe they still do?) have that option. In any case, ours will be at a hotel that allows us to bring in separate food for those that will only eat Kosher. (Ours is at the Renaissance Hotel, we looked at the Park Hotel, the Mariott Uptown and Doubletree Suites)

I suspect it is...we are paying less per person than we did at our wedding in NY 14 years ago...

I didn't even think about all of the hotels and restuarants in Charlotte. I am so used to a city being too far away to be worth it to have as a reception location.
