I am desperately seeking a foster home (or adopter) for a stray cat (8 months old) that I've had for about a week. He was neutered/vaccinated/blood tested yesterday but is FIV+ which makes placing him in a foster home trickier.

I cannot keep him for much longer but it would be best if someone could foster him in a home by himself or with other FIV+ cats.

FIV+ is not a death sentence - it just means the immune system is not as strong. As long as the cats remains indoors and is taking to yearly vet visits, chances are he will be fine. I'm definitely trying to find someone that is educated on FIV+ or willing to become educated.

If you or if you know someone that can foster, please let me know. I am more than willing to help financially for anything this little guy may need.

depending where you are located in the area, you may find a cat sanctuary, a no kill shelter or other organization such as pet aid league, aarf, best friends etc..

even if you call a nationally recognized organization listed above and no group is local, they can definitely recommend a place to help you find this little guy a home.

when i lived in so florida - so many groups where around and i became an animal foster mom but unfortunately i don't know of any places here. i would help you out but my house is full of animals

good luck and pm if you have any questions

My kitty companion was diagnosed with FIV when he was about 4 years old. He had to transition to the indoor life but otherwise went on to live a normal kitty life for another 10 years.

I wish I was able to foster your kitty but currently have a full house. Check out Kitty City in Concord, they may be able to assist.

Thanks so much for the responses so far! I've been contacting all kinds of organizations today - hopefully something will come through but so far, no luck.
