I'm considering applying for a position at Caromont in Gaston and was wondering if anyone could suggest nice family friendly areas to live that would be a reasonable commute. I want to check a few out when I go for an interview. I have 3 kids (2 high school and 1 elementary) so good public schools are a must. Appreciate your help.

I assume that you are referring to the hospital in Gastonia?

Look in Lincoln County & Kings Mountain. GreatSchools - Public and Private School Ratings, Reviews and Parent Community

Belmont, Cramerton and Mcadenville are great small towns to look into.

My husband works in Gastonia and we live in the Pumpkin Center area of Lincolnton. They are very good schools, which is why we are here. I have 2 sons in the elementary school. The Pumpkin Center Elementary/Primary, North Lincoln Middle and North Lincoln High are the best in the area. His commute is an easy 30 minute drive door to door.

You'll find that no school in Kings Mountain is ranked less than 8. The Lincoln County schools have an excellent reputation, as well. Both would be easy commutes.

You will also find that real estate is lower in both places. A word of warning, though, Kings Mountain sits in Cleveland County & Gaston County. The kids in Gaston County go to school in Bessemer City & Gaston County has higher taxes. Also, some of Kings Mountain is incorporated as City of Kings Mountain, the rest is unincorporated & can be quite rural in places.
