We are looking for one of those awesome master-planned communities (individual developments ranging from multi-family dwellings i.e. apartments and townhomes up to single-family large homes) in the suburbs of Charlotte. One with all of the amenities such as walking/jogging trails, clubhouse with exercise, swimming pools, parks and open areas, play areas and sport courts for children, maybe golf but not necessary and top-rated schools. We will be working on the NE side of Charlotte and are ok with up to a 30-minute commute. Does this exist in the area? Appreciate your suggestions.

You may try Afton Village in Cabarrus County - It would be a close commute.

I would suggest you check out Birkdale as well. However, I would also suggest you evaluate the schools no matter where you live. Here is a link to the NC School Report Card website that will help you determine the best schools for your children: http://www.ncreportcards.org/src/

Berewick, but it is located in SW Charlotte. Nice big community, with lots of trails, single family homes, townhouses, club house, pool, etc.
