![]() Bundy come on, your response is weak (I honestly expected you to come back with a bit more fact than fiction). It's not very difficult to dissect your response. First you argue that the stats come from local law enforcement, then in the very next sentence you point out the Sheriff's office is part of some city-wide conspiracy to conceal crime in LV and therefore can't be trusted. Which is it- it can't be both. You then cite an example of a mugging that can happen in any major city in America- it adds zero creditibility to your [weak] arguement. Then you point me to the "internet" to corroborate your example. That's like sending someone to the beach to find water and sand. Again, it adds nothing to your point. Am I asking to much? For you to support your comments with facts that can be verified? I asked you to call the Sheriffs department for the stats, but obviously you don't want to hear the truth, so you'll leave with the conspiracy in your mind (which I'm sure you have many friends their in your world). I do honestly respect your right to voice an opinion- however an opinion that is baseless (i.e., your original tizzy on the face of gangs) isn't worth the hot air they are spoken into (or the electrons used to display it). Have a great day ![]() |

Sooooooo, your source is....? Oh, sorry I see you said "trust me", so the source is your imagination....No probs, we can go with that. How is the weather in your world btw? ![]() The face of MS-13, Bloods, Cribs is inner city latino and blacks, typically from improverished communities. Hmm, since we are pointing out "faces" of organizations and you are calling the names of very popular gangs, can you help me with descriptive backgrounds of well known organizations such as the KKK, The Neo Nazzis, the US Militia? Being that you are fair and impartial, I think you should have no problem being "real" (as you say) about it. Once you've honestly answered that and I think you are someone of integrity depsite our little tat for tat, we now have established every major ethnic group has a sub-culture that embraces extremist points of view. While you rightfully bring up the cribs and bloods, you fail to even consider someone that looks like you (and me) could conceive, organize and spew a venom of hate that is orders of magnitude more intense than LA gangs. Oh btw, the face of our Secretary of State is a black woman and her predecessor was a black man (who was once chair of the Joint Chiefs), the CEO of American Express (which I assume you never leave home without) is a black man. Hmm, I think I smell something burning- oh your just trying to make that square peg of truth fit into the round holes of your world view- creating a lot of friction. Have a great one ![]() Last edited by WilliamB; 08-08-2006 at 11:58 AM.. |

I take it you've never heard of Emmitt Teal. A Young black boy who was head was bashed in to the point it was hard to recognize his body as being human. So your point is valid, had he been white, he wouldn't have been harmed- his crime was being black, and was brutilized by the same groups you have no problem with. By your own point, since 99% of all crime is commited by gangs, and therefore by inference, blacks and latinos, then you are 100% safe in a 100% white environment. I assume you become fearful when someone that does not look like you, bags your groceries, is a receptionist at the dental office, or works on your car, or *gasp* is in law enforcement. You mentioned the tragedy of the officer who was killed. I did try and attempt to find an article about it in a NJ newspaper but couldn't-quite possibly it's to new. However I assume you mentioned that to support my above conclusion about the "us vs. them". I will be honest, I thought you'd at least mention that many of the gang related crimes are socio-economic based and not so much race- you are not going to see an upper middle class black/latino kid gang banging. You will find a poor white kids in gangs. Anyway, you've kept it real and didn't skirt how you really feel. I'm glad it's now in black and white for the world to see.... Have a great one always... |

Areas to avoid: north Tryon up to the 29/49 split, the west side of town (hence your unsafe feeling on Freedom), the airport area, South Blvd (South of newly developed, expensive South End), Albemarle Rd. off Independence Blvd. My neighborhood (called NoDa, short for N. Davidson) has been undergoing gentrification for the past 10 years, and most of the older, poorer families and starving artists have been pushed out and replaced by yuppies. But even so, we are still a diverse neighborhood with blacks, whites and hispanics, homeowners and renters, all living together in relative harmony. Our streets are still sprinkled with drug dealers, prostitutes, and staggering men carrying beer in paper bags, but I have never felt any threat to my safety. One of the kindest and most community-oriented people I know here is a middle aged, down-on-her-luck, alcohol-addicted prostitute. She is gentle and attentive with my 3-yr-old son, always offers to help me with my groceries when she sees me unloading, and addresses me as Ms. Tara. I guess what I am saying is that what you see and read/hear about is rarely the entire picture. Last edited by Yac; 08-09-2006 at 02:19 PM.. |

doublet,
Thank you so very much for your input, it's put my mind at ease and it's helping me see more than just what the reports had to say. Thank you again and I sincerely appreciate it! =D |

PC aside, yes Charlotte has gangs. It is true that Charlotte PD often renames gang violence for other words. For example, the past two years in a row, the July 4th skyshow in downtown Charlotte has been affected by fighting and violence. WBTV news even showed these thugs flashing gang signs and wearing their colors and bandanas. Last 4th, someone was shot in the head in downtown.
The police chief doesnt call it gang violence, and wouldnt call it a riot. Just people acting up. |
