Hey everyone. I'm trying to help my girlfriend out with some details for her best friend's bachelorette party. They are going to Charlotte (we are in Boone) and the bride-to-be wants to be able to walk from bar to bar. What area would be the best for this? Downtown? Can you recommend some good and nice bars for this? They want nice bars. Not insanely high-end, but nice. It's a group of girls. The bride-to-be wants to stay near the bars as well but I am thinking that if they want to pay very little for a hotel (which they do) then they may have to get a hotel a little out of downtown and take a cab to the bar area? LASTLY (lol sorry), bride-to-be's little sister is 19. SOOOO are there many bars in the area you will hopefully recommend that are 18+ instead of 21+? Thanks so much for ANY info!!! I really appreciate it everyone.

You will not find many bars at all in uptown on a weekend that will allow an under 21 in after 9pm. You could find places before 9pm but after that, there will a door guy at most every place. I am too old and too married to give you any suggestions! The only place we frequent much anymore is Press (wine bar on Trade St). It is a great suggestion if you guys want some wine and sushi before you hit the bars. They have good prices on wine and it is aways busy. There are even some sofa's and chairs for your party if you get there at the right time (plus they have outside seating).

I like that suggestion if it were just my girlfriend and I... I love sushi. But it will be her and the other girls only and I don't know that they will want to do that. Do you know much about downtown? I will keep Press in mind for the next time I am down there though

They definitely want to stay in uptown Charlotte - the Marriott Center City or Omni Max puts them right in the heart of things.

On weeknights I know under 21's are allowed in most bars, they are just given a hand stamp or wrist tag to show they are not allowed to buy alcohol. I'm not sure about weekends though. But even if they couldn't get in every bar, there are still plenty of nice trendy restaurants with bars that they could get in to and party.

But tell then to try places like Bar Charlotte, The Forum, Whiskey River and Alley Cats.

I suggest they also check out the Aloft Hotel at the Epicenter Epicentre website

On the weekends most places are 21 and up, even many restaurants after a certain time. I'm honestly not sure which places are 18+ because my friends and I are all well above 21.

Definitely no to under 21 on weekends. Definitely yes to uptown. I think the Epicenter is kind of rowdy and dirty and more of a college age thing. Maybe Mez is the exception over there. Other nice places to check out are the bar at the Ritz Carleton. Absolutely gorgeous but pricey. Have one drink and move on. Chima has a really pretty bar area and it's not college kids at all. Blue is another really beautiful place to have a drink and not feel like you're at a kegger. Also Cosmos. And Zink. And the new place right next to Zink (can't think of the name). Dandelion Market is another great spot to check out. Tell them not to be paranoid, but stay alert, don't get too drunk and stick together as a group.

They might also enjoy Bar316. Its a gay bar in uptown/Dilworth. The gay men there would love a bachalorette group! And it's not a gross place, kinda nice.
