We are looking at a possible move to the Charlotte area but we dont want to live around or in a 'total nascar' community. I monitor it, but am not a huge devoted fan. I am more into NHRA. We would like to live where there is not alot of Nascar heads and people with nascar stickers plastered all over there vehicles and such. I am liking Concord so far. We dont want to live in a community where all the talk around town is nothing but Nascar. You can like and enjoy it, but you dont have to worship it. Is the Concord area nice and not alot of 'motorheads'??? I do race bikes at dragstrip and I guess I am a jr. motorhead, but my girlfriend hates the whole nascar scene and hearing nothing but nascar, nascar, nascar, all the time. At her work, in public, etc. So what or where is a good community to move to that is within about 45 minutes drive from ZMAX Dragway. I dont want to have to travel more than 1 hour to get to the track. We are looking for cheap taxes, decent size yard?, good schools, for her daughter. We want amentites near us or just 15-20 minutes down the highway. Malls, shopping, etc.

I think your perception of all of the is Nascar talk is unfounded.
I live in Mooresville, teams galore here, my son works in the business but unless your inner circle of friends are into it, or works in it, you dont hear all of this talk around town being Nascar.Where did you get this idea?

I agree. I think Nascar is spoken the least around here than in any other place I've lived. It's not uncommon to see drivers and other notables of the sport out and about town living their "normal" lives; shopping, eating, etc.

Out on the roads around here, you'll see the occasional car number decal or license plate and some folks wear some Nascar gear, but you really don't see a glut. I think you'll be fine!

Geez man, I dont know. I cant think of a single community around here that isnt entirely NASCAR focused. This is NASCAR country, and by golly we're proud of it! We live, eat and breathe NASCAR! Went to the doctor last week. After he asked how I was feeling, we talked about Tony Stewart and Jimmie Johnson the rest of the visit!! Word of advice- if you decide to come here, make sure you have a 90s vintage pickup with tobacco stains on the doors- this is the only way you'll truly fit in!

WHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

So you go to Nascar events but dont want to be around people who celebrate there favorite sports driver? You are choosing Concord too
Thats like me going to Dallas and not wanting to be around people
who have Dallas Cowboys
this thread seems fishy

I moved to Charlotte last year hoping to find a community like the one you want to avoid.

I haven't found a NASCAR fanatic since I've been here, except at the track of course.

I haven't heard one NASCAR conversation that I haven't started, and then only to hear "sorry I don't know anything about NASCAR".

Yesterday, for the first time in a year here, I saw a 88 flag flying outside a house.

I wish I could find someone to talk NASCAR, tour the track, visit the shops, drive my car around the track and go to spoiler testing with.

I live 30 minutes from the track where taxes are cheap, have a decent size yard with good schools and shopping but won't tell you where because I don't want you to move here.
