I'm 24, single and need a decent apartment, that's not too far from campus since i don't know anyone in the city. I'd like to pay between 400 - 600 per month. Any suggestions??

Since the school is in uptown, I'd think it would be hard to find a place at that cost.

At that price, you'd probably be better off getting a roommate. Most 1-bedroom places start around $650.

There is a duplex close to me that just became vacant - it's not right next to J & W, but it's not too far, either, less than a ten-minute drive:

Socialserve.com - Property Details

You can also search more on that site.

Here's one, a little higher than your max but it's a blink (walking distance) to J&W.
Find an Apartment - Post Apartment Homes - Apartment Search - Luxury Apartment Homes

Also, do a search on Apartments-Third Ward- Charlotte, NC and check what you get.

Thanks for the replies. I just heard about Darby-Terrace Apartments on Central Ave. The price is reasonable and they have furnished apartments. Has anyone seen or heard about them?

Regarding Darby Terrace, I've never seen them (or noticed them) but I saw where they are. That's a great part of town for a food lover. Lots of great restaurants and shops. Kind of sketchy, but not too bad.

You don't want to live there and can do better.

Did you contact the poster above whose kid needs a roommate?

Darby Terrace has been there for decades and once this might have been a place to consider. However these days I agree with loves' that a college student probably would want to look elsewhere.
