I debated on whether I should respond to this or not..but here goes. I have written this thing over more times then I care to admit. One part that I have left off was a long explanation why schools such as Fort Mill do not appear on the Newsweek list...the reason I left it off?...it does not take a long amount of time to research the internet (or anywhere else) that you will find many (far smarter than I) that point out the flaws of how this list is compiled. What I will provide you with is:
Fort Mill School District website:
www.fort-mill.k12.sc.us
-where you can obtain school stats
Fort Mill High School: www.fort-mill.k12.sc.us/fmhs (broken link)
-where you will see that Fort Mill High School is a U.S. Dept. of Education Blue Ribbon School
-where you will also see that Fort Mill H.S. is a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Model School
Bill & Medlinda Gates foundation:
www.gatesfoundation.org
-Fort Mill High School was 1 of 30 High Schools chosen nationwide as a model school by a collaboration of the Council of Chief State School Officers for Leadership in Education and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

I have been one of the one's that have said Fort Mill schools are good (I would even go so much to say they are great) and I still stand behind what I have said in the past.
