Default Are there any midwesterners that have moved to Charlottesville?

I would love to hear from anyone who has moved to Charlottesville from the Midwest. I would prefer to hear from over 50 yr olds, since I think it's harder to make friends if you move somewhere without children. Do you like the area? Was it an adjustment? Will we be able to make friends? I would love it if there were even a few who gathered to watch Big 10 football somewhere!

Midwesterners are usually pretty down-to-earth, casual, friendly people. How are the residents of Cville? I keep hearing about how wealthy Cville is - will I be able to wear a sweatshirt and jeans around town or will I look out of place?

My main worry is making new friends at the age of 60....did any of you have good luck?

Default Of course! :)

I am from Wisconsin. I love this place. I've got 2 single girlfriends in their 60's and we would love to show you around. Seriously, just go to the senior center or work part time someplace and you'll have girlfriends. Or join a book club. Everyone here is really nice, and even will let you cut in in traffic. Sort of like the midwest (excluding Chicago, lol) Do it. You won't be sorry.

Thanks Peggy! Glad to hear you like it there! I'll have to look you up when we move there. I sent you a friend request and if you don't mind, sometime I'd like to talk with you about Charlottesville!
