We love Charlottesville area, but were recently told the humidity is as bad as D.C.
Is this true, or is it less humidity from the surrounding mountains protecting it? We are currently in the Asheville area and find the humidity here okay, but don't want to experience much higher humidity.
Thanks!

Hey mountainrose I live close to the mountains outside of Charlottesville. I dont think the humidity would be any worse then it is where your at now.

I've lived here for ~8 years. Having lived in Northern Virginia/DC area and Virginia Beach, this place is much lower overall. The cool mountain air can feel good even in the Summer evenings at times the closer you live to the Blue Ridge.

Thanks, c'ville. -- do you live in or near Charlottesville, or closer to the mountains?

Joe, are you at a higher elevation than c'ville?
Asheville is at 2,500 and we keep hearing that is what keeps the humidity down. I think c'ville is at 800 ft.
I think the mountains do influence it also, where D.C. I'd all asphalt and water.

Not true - I have lived in both, and DC humidity is worse.

DC was built on swamp land. Think about Foggy Bottom, for instance.
