If you're looking for a casual place for bagels for breaksfast, I would highly recommend Bodos. I still miss it and I graduated almost 11 years ago. The Boars Head Inn would be a nice place to eat if you wanted to have a really nice dinner.

ETA: I'm sure they're a lot of great places on the downtown mall I'm not familiar with. Hopefully someone else can recommend those.

Dinner and breakfast = WAFFLE HOUSE!!
Bar = six pack in the parking lot of WAFFLEHOUSE!!

Sorry...I couldn't resist. I'm a Waffle House fan. Smothered, covered, chunked, capped...

Default depends

The downtown mall (open air mall) has a number of good bars and restaurants. More college type bars are by the main campus at "the corner." There are a few good spots between there and downtown as well. Breakfast at The Tavern on Emmit St. is awesome. It's kinda dinerish but has tables and waiters etc. and the food is great. Very old school establishment. I think you can even get a beer there (nothing like a cold one to wash down your pancakes and bacon). Bodos is fine if you want more of a quick bagel sandwich/coffee kinda thing.

Default waffle house is revolting

sorry... no offense, but it is pretty low grade food. Stick with the locals' spots!

Just a small attempt at humor. I'm sure there are plenty of 'real' places to eat in C-ville. I like Wafflehouse and am not ashamed.

Hi there - can I come with you on your trip to Charlottesville? I promise to not talk a lot if I can just tag along and enjoy the lovely surroundings. I am about to PM you a link to some really good restaurant info for the area.

One of our favorite restaurants in Charlottesville (and decent bar too) is Lord Hardwicks just up 29 North from Barracks road....

They have a WIDE variety of food and, oddly enough, it's all pretty good....

If you like Italian then I'd suggest Ragazzi's... A little further up 29 North....

Smile Ragazzi's

There's a Ragazzi's here in Roanoke I had never heard of them until I moved her, didnt have one in Richmond. Not sure if its a chain or not. But I was overally impressed with it and was cheaper than Olive Garden!
