Do such buildings exist in the area?

My partner and I bought a home in Stanley, but we are potentially looking for a place in Charlottesville, ideally somewhere in the northwest.

A perfect setup would be a small shop, no more than 1000sqft, and a loving unit either on the side or on a second story.

If there are any leads for something like that, do let me know.

I know a lot of places don't allow those type of units for zoning purposes, so this is just a shot in the dark

I may just be old, but I have no clue what a "loving unit is", I may be able to help if I knew.

It's where Moon Unit Zappa was conceived.

It may also have been vaguely referred to in Third Rock from the Sun.

Now THAT makes sense! (Zappa I mean, Third Rock I never really watched). Poor Dweezil, he must have been conceived somewhere REALLY strange.

So uh...still no luck looking for residential warehouses, or really any smallish warehouses at all. Anybody have any leads?

NW C'ville and NW of town are some of the least likely areas for such a place. When those areas got developed, such places were already becoming uncommon, or the land was older farms tht got subdivided. And that area is pretty expensive, as are many areas around C'ville... which makes such an economy setup even less likely. A small section of an ex-farm with small house and barn would be more likely, but again, won't be cheap in that area.

Such a different, older setup is not one of Albemarle county's strong points; it has become more and more suburban cookie-cutter developments over the last 30+ years. YOu're gonna have better luck in Greene County or another county more remote from C'Ville.

Have you dug along the older byways, like Proffit Rd?
