Are there any contemporary catholic churches located in or around Charlottesville, VA?

I think that's the Diocese of Richmond at that point--you might want to check their site.

Also, there should be a Central VA board to post to, if you have not already done so.

Last but not least, try calling the Catholic Newman Center at UVA--maybe they know of such a church.

Good luck!

You are falsely assuming Roman Catholic (ie: in accord with the Magesterium). Notice the OP did NOT capitalize 'catholic' nor 'church'.

Regardless, whatever type of church you are looking for, you may want to try in a diff forum as Charlottesville is a bit too far out for the NoVA forum.

Yes, while Charlottesville may seem to be in the geographical top half of the state, by locals' definition it is way outside what is considered Northern Virginia.

I will move this thread to the general Virginia forum.

Try St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Charlottesville. We loved it! It also serves the UVA community so there are always things going on.

Church of the Good Shepard is probably the most contemporary Catholic church in Charlottesville. I know some members there. They are well educated and progressive.

Oops, that should be Church of the Incarnation. (Good Shepard is the contemporary Catholic church in State College, PA.)
