I've tried to do some searching on the issue but I'm having a hard time coming up with accurate data on the subject.

I have a wife and a little girl and we are relocating to Chattanooga for a position on shallowford rd, right near the mall.

Our budget is under 700/month for an apartment.

We are having a hard time finding a nice quiet 2/br to live in. Every time we find an apartment and I look it up online it has horrible reviews. Could someone please point me in the general area that I should be looking at? The quieter the better honestly but we need to be less than 30 minutes from my work.

Thank you so much for the help.

I don't know alot about apartments here. Some houses are really cheaper to rent than them. I do know their are apartments on Lee Hwy, Hickory Valley Rd, East Brainerd Rd. Those are all within a 10-20 minute commute from where you are working. Check for duplexs also off East Brainerd Rd area. Lee Hwy has about 2 sets of apartments a little off Shallowford Rd. Hickory Valley road has 2 sets, East Brainerd (from the Bi-Lo towards the interstate) has about 4 sets of apartments.

It's ok.

I found an apartment complex called Hickory Valley but the online reviews say it's full of mexicans (which is fine, I dont care) but then it says the rob people and smoke weed/drink in the parking lot etc. And someone said they had their car broken into 3 times.

I cant tell if these reviews are real or not

it's in East Brainerd

Hmmm, I don't know. I have heard that some of the areas near the airport aren't very nice, but I don't know anything about that complex in particular. We lived in Hixson when we first moved here and also looked at apts in Red Bank. That's the wrong side of town for you. Have you tried Craigslist or rent.com? We'll be leaving Chattanooga soon, and I've been using those two sites to price housing in our potential new cities. I've found them to be helpful.

Having been out of the apartment loop for so long this may not help much. My 1st apartment in college was HV. It was old and rough then (a LONG time ago). Several months ago I would have thought $700 / month was doable but having talked to folks in that time your budget may be a little low for the area. Have you tried Chattanooga, TN Apartments and Houses for Rent, Local Apartment and Home Rentals, House, Townhome, and Condo Rentals, Vacation Rentals, Roommate and Sublet Classifieds ::

You may have to consider other areas of town like Hixson or Mtn Creek. Mtn Creek would be about 30 minutes from Gunbarrell.

I had friends, wayyyy in the past , who lived there. It was quite the "pot" place then, lol. BUT, if you know what business to stay out of , I don't think there is going to be awful, ya know. Plus, if you don't have to do a year lease, or even a 6 month lease, then no worries, you aren't stuck in the bad situation. I would negoiate a short lease with them. You can also email the Chattanooga Police Department and ask for the crime stats in that area, that will tell you the real truth, I live near there, I haven't heard of any thiing bad happening there.
Take the place on a short term lease, gives you an "out". Then, if a better paying position, or promotion, even with Amazon hiring, you might could find something better.
I've always thought apartments were overpriced anyway, but the supply and demand thing

My nephew has some friends who live there, I'll ask them when I get a chance, I'm heading out of town this week. I think a friend of my sons, his mother, is living there. I'll check with them also.
