Talking Decatur TN area ........... any type of info or pics ???

Dear Honored Tennesseans .............
We are about to buy a house south of Decatur close to ( yaaay ! Fishing ! ) a bend in the Hiwassee River.(sight unseen except for videos and pics).

We are farmers and plan to retire at our new country home and have fun. I might miss our old farm for a while but certainly will be glad to give up all the never ending work

Any valuable tidbits or musings you can offer will be soo gratefully appreciated.

I tried picture googling Decatur and really did not get much.

Silly me , guess I am just excited to finally get down there to live not only for vacations ♥♥♥

........ Ooooopsie ! I forgot another important thing.

We are bringing 2 aged horses with us and need to find a trustworthy place for pasture boarding for a month or 2 until we get fence and barn up.

Even at a farm relatively close with safe fence , water , pasture and shade is all we require. A riding establishment is not needed as they both are beyond retirement just as we are

Later Gator,

Thumbs up DAYTON Area

S: Hello new neighbor. Seems you are so close to DAYTON I guess that is where any info will search. I was in town the other day and new bldgs along rt #27. A new LOWE'S BEING BUILT ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF cITY.
Maybe CRAIGLIST will be a place to post your horse request, or ask many farm neighbors when arrive, or your real estate agent. I believe the new bridge Rt #58 across Hiwassee is finished and will make that area more desirable. iT SURE IS PRETTY. We are just south of you at Sale creek, and want to run the boat and kayak up that river soon. .. [/IMG]

Heya Split,
I have ben reading a lot of your posts in the last few months.

Whoo'da thunk we would end up being neighbors ? Welll , kinda .

If I could fly it would be really close ,
cause it looks like you are just the 'other' side of the river

Hey thanks for the heads up on the new bridge . Sounds great for this ol gal with itchy feet
( That's what my Daddy said cause I'm always looking to go somewhere)

This is so exciting ! I can hardly wait to get down there.

TTFN,
sienna

Smile Grasshopper creek, etc

S; You sound a tad Irish ?? We have lots of Bluegrass music activities here. If you have walking feet the new section of Cumberland hiking trail is just to the West up on the plateau. Othwise plenty of places to sit and ride the boats or kayaks.
Has been great for swimming this week. River very clean. Farmers market at Dayton courthouse almost daily with local vegatables. The WHITE city logo -DaTA.COM AT UPPER LEFT HAS a link if you doubleclick it then type DAYTON into the search box. May give you the info you wish, A few more of my pics are there. They have the BIG christmas Horse Parade, maybe 1st Sat EVENING IN Dec that you should enjoy.
................. Nice campground in both Sale creek and On East side in Grasshopper creek .......... .[/IMG]

I know a couple in Decatur that might be able to help out with making sure your horses have a place to stay for a couple of months. You may have already moved by now, but just in case. Have a great day!

Thanks LW.

I'll get baack to you as soon as I start making plans to move 'em.

We got out of the horse 'business' about 5 years ago and sold our Ford crew cab diesel Duelly PU and our big fifth wheel horse trailer. So am prolly going to contract with Drexler Horse Vans to move our 2 old guys. $$$$

We used them back when we were breeding horses back and forth to KY but it was different then cause we could write it off . lol

OOps , gotta go
