I've been looking at apts for my move and was wondering if anyone had any info on this place? Decent area, safe, etc? Anything would be appreciated, thanks!

Scarlett, those apts are subsidized which may or may not be an issue for you.

HAMILTON COUNTY SUBSIDIZED AND RENT-RESTRICTED HOUSING
Following are housing developments subsidized by the federal government (HUD) or Dept. of Agriculture) for families earning less than 80% of area median income. For example, people earning approximately $29,950 (for a family of 3) may apply. Some complexes take applications only once a year, and the waiting periods vary. Some may be two years or longer. Rent including utilities costs about 30% of income, depending on family size.

I had a chance to go by there this afternoon. The Overlook is in an area surrounded by public housing and/or projects. Again this may or may not be an issue for you and I am sure not judging anyone. Just giving info for someone not familiar with our area. The section below the towers/down the hill between Grove and Poplar is not an area I would enter after dark. The Overlook appears well kept and is gated somewhat and the complex next door is populated by the elderly so there seem to be alot of ppl to keep an eye on things

jkmewright,

wow, thank you so much!! I'm still going to check out the apt when I get there, but I'll keep the info you gave me on my mind.

It's so tough finding a place. I have a dog and I'm just out of school (14 days and counting!) so I can't afford much yet. I think it might be better if I try and get a duplex. The search continues....
