Things to do in October (Chattanooga: live, train, vacation)

The family and I are coming up to Chattanooga in late October, and staying in the down town area. Besides the Aquarium, what would you all recommend as interest either for this time of year or something that will intrigue a couple of teenage boys?

We are definitely planning a drive through the mountains as I hope that our timing is good for the fall colors. Is there a particular road to drive from Point A to Point B that you would recommend? My wife and I grew up in the north and have seen the fall color change(it wasn't as beautiful when you had to rake it a week later) though our sons have lived their entire lives in Florida. They've seen an Ohio snow and been in the cold of Chicago, but not truly experienced the fall the way it should be experienced.

Any good night time Halloween hay rides?

G.B: We wish it was Oct today, still in this 100 degree heat wave. Still little early for the Oct event schedules, but yes many churches have festivals, etc.
Also quite a few of the farm area's have "MAZE" events cut / layout on their land that look like fun. Also just a good mtn bike trail, or ATV rental, kayak, will enjoy the color mtns.

We did the Rock City Maze last year. As an adult I just figured it was a good place to take a couple of kids and spend an afternoon. I was NOT that excited but meh... Well, much to my suprise we had a blast and could not find our way out lol! Then one of the little ones had to tinkle so we cheated but we would still be there otherwise. They had fresh kettle corn and drinks. It was a good time for all.
