East Brainerd gyms? (YMCA, university, costs)

I recently retired to the East Brainerd area and I'm looking for a gym. The ones I've seen are considerably more expensive than where I'm from and most don't seem to have the facilities I'm used to. Are there any reasonably priced gums in the area with nice locker rooms, etc. All I'm really interested in is treadmill and light weight work but the locker room and shower is important. Calling and visiting the ones I've found has been less than satisfying and the YMCA costs MUCH more than I paid up north.

There is a RUSH gym on Lee Hwy, as well as Golds Gym. I don't go to gyms, so I am not sure as pricing, etc. Lee Hwy isn't far from East Brainerd area.

When I called Rush they said they were interested in corporate memberships not individuals, and the Golds Gym is apparently out of business. It's not listed on the company website and the phone has been disconnected.

WOW, wonder why the change with the RUSH. heck, that's the place where i know everybody goes.

I forgot, the Sports Barn is on Lee Hwy also, across from SAMS club. Call them. they have been around for years.

A friend of mine loves the Sports Barn. Have you checked out Southern Adventist University pool/gym? They don't advertise, but yearly or monthly memberships are available. They have an indoor salt water pool/hot tub and treadmills, weights, etc. It's a very nice facility and family friendly. You have to wear modest clothing there: no sleeveless shirts and only one-piece bathing suits for women.
