We are considering the Chattanooga area for retirement but would like higher elevations for cooler summer temps. Is there anywhere within 45 minutes of Chattanooga above 2,000-2,500 ft. that are worth considering?

Default Signal mtn 1800 ft

H.G. http://www.city-data.com/city/Signal...Tennessee.html
This might be the link to Signal mtn, which one gets from the White City-data logo , upper left top of web forum , if click or double click.
Lots of hike trails there and historic prior to civil war, indian times.
May have to go straight East for a few more feet of elevation over border of North Carolina, maybe , MURPHY rt #64 / 74.
If also retired seem next Aug may be the month to visit Maine or 1000 islands. This summer record heat, 104 , but not the norm. This is a great area, but going North for Aug seems like a future Plan. ......[/IMG]
