bkennett is on a distinguished road
Default Need advice before moving! Help!

My husband and I are needing change and currently live on the water in Fairhope, AL.

I'm a 25 year old graphic designer looking to expand my career and looking for a city that has a modern urban feel...yet close to the mountain where we can enjoy the outdoors. My husband is 36 and is in the cabinet industry.

What neighborhood or section of town would be best for people who are young...enjoy live music, wine, and art?

Also, which neighborhoods are closest to the river?

What lakes are closest to the city?

Our housing price range is from 185,000 to 260,000

Any help would be greatly appreciated THANKS!!

Definitely check into the North Shore (zip: 37405) area and others have also mentioned some cool flats and condos in the downtown area. I am new to the area, but I think you can find your price range in N. Chattanooga, which is definitely filled with younger more hip couples and families. You may not get a huge or the most updated home in that range, but you can find homes in that range. You will definitely find condos in that range. That area will put you close to Coolidge Park, the Walnut Street Bridge, which brings you over the river to either downtown to your right or Bluff View Arts District to your left. It is a very walkable city down by the river and downtown. We spent our anniversary a couple weeks ago just exploring by foot. There is so much to see and do and the views over the river are beautiful. If you are interested in the outdoor stuff check out Outdoor Chattanooga (broken link). Also, CDP :: Enriching our City's Livability (broken link) is a good site, and Chattanooga's official travel site - Chattanooga, Tennessee Events, Attractions and Dining are both good sites to see what is going on.

Hope this helps!

Great advice! You should definitely plan a trip up to the area to see for yourself.
