That is an incredible amount of savings! There seems to be no end in sight with tax rate hikes, school board just increased double digits in Milwaukee! It is madening! All the more reason to relocate. The people we ran into were extremely friendly and more than willing to share about their community, especially in Signal Mountain.

If you plan on using the public school system Signal is the place to be. Their 2 elementry schools are good enough to be feeder schools to the 3 big private middle and high schools. They are building a brand new middle and high school opening in 2008. The parents are very active and have formed a founders fund that will fund many extras at the school with private $'s. Good luch with your search.

The reputation of the schools on Signal Mountain sounds impressive. I could sense a unique sense of community when touring the area. It seemed different than lookout Mountain, which has a more touristy feel to it, with it's many attractions.

The problem with Lookout is the school is only elementary. No middle or high school. You pretty much have to go private after 1-5. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Just need to figure into your planning.
