Great photo's, thanks! My dad was living in Louisville and visited the dockyards while the Delta Queen was being built. I have the commemorative coin he got at the laying of the keel ceremony.

One day, I would love to take a cruise on the Delta Queen.

blessings, Shen

My parents took us (my sister and I) on a Delta Queen Cruise when we were kids. I think you window for a cruises is quickly closing as they are decommissioning the riverboat due to it's wood construction. (our government at work for us )

Now that is bad news. The government needs to stay out of private business and get back to the intentions of the original framers of the Constitution.
Small and less of.

I'll be going back to Louisville again sometime in the next few years, so hopefully the DQ won't be de-commisioned yet. I was in Louisville last year, but the DQ wasn't in port.

Thank you and blessings for posting this!

Shen

Please help save the Delta Queen...she is in Cincinnati right now having a party for her at 5pm tonight due to the Oct 31 deadline of the special Congressional Exemption from the 1966 Safety of Life at Sea Law (Public Law 89-777). This law forbids any vessel, foreign or domestic, from operating from a United States port carrying over 50 overnight passengers if it is constructed primarily of wood. Please help, she is running out of time....Some state reps around Ohio voted to keep her on the river but others in the rest of the states did not. This would be a great loss of history & beauty to many who have enjoyed her for years!
