Hey Doug. Hate to leave you hanging but you might want to do a search for Dunlap as most of us live in Chattanooga and get over the mountain for fun only so we won't have the nitty gritty you need

I'm not sure what specifics you are looking for, but Dunlap is truly a beautiful place. The views of the mountains are fantastic!

Rural , elbow room
D.W. :We are on the east side of the ridge, and more activity is slowly going into Dunlap along Rt # 127 in the Seq valley.
. Small city / town is rural , mostly large farm acerage background, flat fertile farm valley, just inside the Central timed zone, or Slow time from Chatt.
Most people look for 5 acre minimun for dogs, etc pets animals, up to 50 acres for elbow room. Maybe limited job activity, unless construction equipment.

We are retired and looking for the most good land for the money.
Then building a log home in the middle of nowhere.
Also looking for eco-village style.
Thinking on buying property in Troy area called Sewanee Creek also Tennessee mountain property and mountain resort, Monteagle, TN I have been told its the best location to move in the U.S. for stable global warming and shifting lands. Not to mention water damage.
Any comments ??? Doug/Norma

I think that the Monteagle area is experiencing water shortages due to drought in area - rest stops have been closed off I-24 - plus read recently Chatta. and surrounding area is in earthquake zone. You might want to research this...also tornado hit Kimball recently (about 30 miles from Monteagle). you asked!

Hey. That's where we bought! We wanted a sustainable community. When we looked for one it was hard to find anything beyond developers who planted indigenous flowers and didn't cut down trees. We finally found land where the developer gives back 10% of the purchase price for actual sustainability, such as building with cisterns and alternative energy. The cisterns for harvesting water are what caught my interest. Some cistern owners in the area have gone through the drought years without tapping into the municipal water system at all. 100% of their water needs were supplied by their cisterns, both for drinking and gardening. Just makes sense to me. Plus I like the community amenities. Good luck in your hunt.

Hi, i'm from this area and the interstate going up and down monteagle on the marion county side gets shut down sometimes in the winter time.
Dunlap is a pretty place and there is a humungous yard sale every year that runs throught there. We've always have called the the 480 mile yard sale but can't remember what it's actually called. It bogs down traffic through there sometimes.

try googling "The Village on Sewanee Creek" development, sounds like this may be the kind of place you are looking for!
