Hello all! We are considering a move to the Cleveland area. Actually, we wanted to be in the Charlotte, NC area, but my job doesn't have anything there for me. The closest one is in Cleveland.
Can anyone help me? Is this a safe place to raise a family? How are the schools? What do housing costs look like? Anything can help. We've been planning a move east for 6 months now and have 7 months to line things up and make a final decision. Thank you all so much! |

What is it that you like better? Our hearts are pretty set on Charlotte, but it doesn't seem to be working out in terms of jobs......

1. A heck of a lot less traffic than Charlotte. 2. Closer to the mountains. 3. A beautiful downtown that is very family-friendly. 4. More outdoor sports. 5. Less sprawl. It doesn't bother me in the slightest that Charlotte has more malls and skyscrapers. If you just have to shop at something fancier than Dillard's or see a building taller than 25 stories, Chattanooga is only 90 minutes from Atlanta which has 10 times more malls and skyscrapers than Charlotte. Oh, Tennessee also doesn't have a state income tax. ![]() |

Cleveland is really close to Chattanooga and is a pretty area. It's smaller than Chattanooga, but has a lot to offer. If you prefer the larger city shopping, just jump on I-75 and you'll be at the mall in no time. I live between Chattanooga and Cleveland and have lived in this area for many years.
