Wondering if anyone out there knows of a restaurant in the area wher I can enjoy a Kentucky Hot Brown? I used to live in Cincinnati and enjoyed that combo of toast, turkey, tomatoes, moray sauce topped with bacon. I can make one, but it's just not the same.

I don't know of any local restaurants, locally owned, that serve this. BUT, that doesn't mean you couldn't inquire to some and see if they would add it to their menus for lunch and see what happens! Don't think I haven't had a discussion with Niedlovs about adding English Muffin BREAD to their menu. They can't talk the bakers into trying to make it, say it's too hard. BUT good lawd that is the best toasted bread in this solar system!!! I get it from a bakery, once a year, up north. I've tried making it, no go, not a single recipe on the net has duplicated what I am use to eating. sighhhh

I would hit up Honest Pint, or maybe hair of the Dog, looks like it would be go over well on their menus.

Ooh yes, that's a good idea and those are perfect places to enjoy a hot brown and an ale or a lager. Thanks!

Many good restaurants (non-chains) will have a go at going "off menu". The trick with this dish is the mornay sauce. Once you find a place with good mornay sauce the rest should be easy to put together.

But WHATEVER you do, do not ever, ever, EVER attempt to bring Cincinnati's horrid style of chili down here. It just ain't right.

Heard an ad on the radio the other morning, Mt. Vernon now offers Kentucky Hot Browns!

Blue 502, if you find yourself in Knoxville during business hours, VGs bakery in Farragut bakes English muffin bread.

Yippee! I do find myself in Knoxville during those times at least once a month! Thanks so much Creeksitter for letting me know, and if you haven't tried it, you must! Nothing will ever taste the same once you've had a toasted sandwich or even toast from English muffin bread....heaven indeed!
