We see plates down here from Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, and Kentucky with regularity. We see a ton of Ontario plates and none of them know where they are going.
Though I will say that it doesn't seem to be as many snowbirds down our way this year. Tourism is down 10% in Sarasota, reportedly because of the economy. I know it's not the weather, this is the best time of year in Florida - my opinion.

Just be careful where in east ridge you are. the closer to the ridge cut you get the more dangerous it gets. I know that there are a lot of great people who live all over the ridge, brainerd, east ridge, and thoes areas. I grew up out there and am planning on moving back. The only places I would settle in Chattanooga are. Ooltewah, Hixon/Soddy area, on Signal Mtn, Apison, Mcdonald, Birchwood ( its really far away but opens up and is beautiful). Too many crazies, drugs, & thugs everywhere else. Exibit A: Jerry @ Leisure Time Dive and Ski shop RIP. Don't want to tick anyone off, hope this helps.

Ok, sorry to be such a pain in the butt, but I have an offer for a house in Sequioa Place at the foot of Missionary Ridge. I tried to GoogleEarth it, but that whole section is blurred out. Wondering why, but you never know with GoogleEarth.
Vailadrenaline~Seems this house, is right where you said to stay away, lol. Is that correct?
Do any of you live in this area? Curious what the neughborhood looks like. We are coming back up Feb. 8th-10th, but curious now, lol.

I work in Venice and live in Port Charlotte and I also see tourism down, but Port Charlotte's economy is DEAD!!! I have more relatives and friends out of work than working, why most are leaving.

I think you mean Brainerd area close to the ridge. I know where you are talking about and I agree. Especially N Germantown and Tunnel Blvd, close to Leisure Time. The East Ridge side is not an area that I would be concerned about.

Gizmoviki73,
There are some absolutely breathtaking homes up there. They are the old colonial style, 4 or so rooms downstairs 15' celings and usually about 24'x24' room size, 3-4 stories. It's really quite spectacular. They are all pretty old and fixer uppers. The potential problem exists at the base of the ridge. Regardless, the top of the ridge is still claimed by doctors, lawyers and wealthier folks. I had some friends that lived up there when I was younger and had a pretty good feel for it. I'm not saying your going to be robbed or shot up there, you could live ther rest of your life up there and be perfectly happy. But its worth noting that it is a bit riskier on the ridge.
