On the map it appears that both Rising Fawn and Trenton would be closer to Atlanta. They might be as the crow flies but practically they aren't. Living in either place you'd still have to, somehow or the other, get over the mountain. And even if you did that you'd still have to take backroads until you eventually got to I-75.

Really, it'd likely be quicker to take I-59, then I-24 thru Chattanooga, across Missionary Ridge and then to I-75.
