Visiting the noog this week. Impress my wife. :)
Hello all!
It looks as if I will be in Chattanooga this week. I will be bringing my wife and 20 month old daughter along. We plan on staying the night and scoping out the city the following day.
We currently live in Atlanta, and I want my wife to be impressed with your town as we may relocate there.
I know about the Aquarium and the Children's museum.
Every time we drive through Chattanooga my wife comments on its beauty. So that's a good thing!
We do want to check out neighborhoods and housing. So any help there would be appreciated. The top end of our budget would be about 350k.
I have gathered from previous posts that Signal Mountain and North Shore are communities that we should check out. Where else would you add to this list?
So... if you were going to take friends or family members that may be considering relocation... what would your itinerary be?
Thanks!

I still say if schools K - 12 are important to you Signal is a must. If you're ok with private schools then North Chattanooga is awesome. You can always look at getting your kids in a magnet school and then it doesn't matter where you live. Good luck with your search. Post more questions if you think or any.

What type of housing strikes your fancy? Arts & Crafts? Historic? Cookie Cutter? If you desire something specific we can dig up a neighborhood for you I am sure.

We both love craftsman style homes. We also like capes and brick ranches. Not a fan of tract homes. We love mature landscaping and established neighborhoods.
School will be important. We are about 3 years away from kindergarten.
Thanks again for the help.

OH man here we go There are some WONDERFUL craftsman homes in North Chattanooga/North Shore and Missionary Ridge. Try searches around South Crest for the ridge (zip 37411) and some awesome ones in N Chattanooga are around Barton Avenue and Young (zip 37405). The ridge does not offer many good schools so you will have to go magnet or private around there. Signal has some wonderful old homes, great schools and nice neighborhoods as well. For something a little different (think Brady bunch with less kids and more cash) you could try the Big Ridge area in Hixson (zip 37343). Good schools and established neighborhoods.
