I am thinking of relocating to Athens Tennessee from NH and was wondering what the job market is like in the medical secretary field?

Athens and McMinn county, is just now beginning to show some growth with three new plants . However the situation with the hospital and the medical community, is basically unchanged since the OP.
Those with better jobs and better insurance usually go to Knoxville or to Chattanooga for treatment.
