We're trying to make plans for our March visit. Traveling with 5 total and trying to find a place with two queen beds. Found La Quinta Inn on 100 W. 21st Street (2 queen bed, mini fridge, microwave, free breakfast AND new beds), but wanted to make sure it was in a safe area. Anyone know anything about the hotel or area?

Thanks!

Default thanks!

Well, thank goodness for this forum - and the honest responses!! We're trying to keep costs low since we'll stay 4 nights, have 5 of us to feed and will probably do some of the tourist things with the kids.

As I mentioned, we're kind of stuck in that we need two queen beds. (Most can only offer 1 king or two doubles.) The other choices I have are:

The Hampton Inn (3 locations - downtown, Hixson or Lookout)
Baymont Inns
Holiday Inn Express in East Ridge

Any feedback on those options? Thanks!

East Ridge is not too far from downtown and should be an okay choice. It's very close to the I-75 and I-24 intersection so you would be able to get on/off pretty easily. Plus there are lots of fast food and restaurants like Cracker Barrel, Waffle House, Shoney's, McDs, BK, Taco Bell, Long Joh Silver/A&W, Baskin Robbins, an italian place, Arby's. And if you wanted to go to Hamilton Place Mall for some shopping, then it's only 5 min north of there.

We will be staying at holiday inn express in hixson b/c we also have 5 of us and needed a little bit bigger room. Plus the microwave and fridge are necessary. We paid about 64 a night.

They quoted me $89 (with a free large pizza and 2-liter of soda each night) a night - how did you get such a good rate?

We stayed at La Quinta on Shallowford by Hamilton Place Mall our first trip and Days In off I-24 at Lookout Mountain the 2nd time. We wanted to try both sides of town and both were nice for the $50 price range with 2 beds.

Oh, and both were cheaper thru their direct websites, instaed of those discount sites like priceline, travelocity, etc.
