Honestly wd like opinions on how people drive in Tennessee. Are they speeders or are a majority of them pretty lax and drive the limit? We may be relocating from NY in a few years so just curious. Thx

Default Auto mechanic jobs

We are considering relocating from NY. My husband has been an auto mechanic for 30 plus years. Does anyone know if he is able to use his ASE certification from NY and use it to obtain work there??

Drivers: I've driven all over the country, and TN is the same as everywhere. In large urban areas around rush hour speeds will vary from zero (standstill) to speed limit + 20. In rural areas it will be speed limit +/- 5 or so.

ASE: ASE is a national certification, so it would be recognized here. I am unaware of any state certification or license for mechanics in Tennessee.

I drive across the state every month and there is no difference between TN and other Southern states, where you're driving freeway/highway routes. Overall, I think Southerners tend to drive a bit (5-8 mph) faster than northerners and (2-5 mph) faster than midwesterners. That said, I think Southern drivers tend to be more courteous (moving over when you're coming up fast from behind) and maybe even a bit smarter (more intuitive movement in the flow of traffic).

The rudest drivers I've encountered tend to be in NY, PA, MD, and TX. Then GA, IL, FL.

Most polite, CA (yes, weird huh?), AL, TN, LA, and NC.

Funny... Having just moved her I've seen more accidents and had two near accidents because of other drivers not paying attention.... Both were on their phones. Not sure if TN Has any hands free phone laws but if they do they're not enforced like they were in Texas. Don't get me wrong... Texans drive like *******s too... But it's downright scary here... And we live out in the boonies on north hwy 58... The news here also shows lots of accident coverage. I wouldn't say that I felt like the drivers have been courtesy either... It would also appear that the use of turn signals is completely optional.

They should be enforced everywhere! Even ny laws, ppl still talk on their phones with no concern of hurting or killing someone. This makes me so angry. Stricter penalties wd be nice. Like $1000 fine after that jail time. I know it will never happen but it's my wish

That's horrible. I don't want to end up dying from a car crash if we decide to move there
