Sundays newspaper "TimesFreePress.com" had front page coverage of Hamilton co positive trend. Almost daily our out of state neighbors ask about quality of schools so here is current info. Hamilton co had 24% and Nashville highest at 28% of students in PRIVATE schools. Tenn state and USA average is 11%.. There are nearly 51 Private schools around Hamilton co., some k-12th. . At the high school level there may be about 18% of the students from international countries. Also Chat draws from North Alabama, and North of Atlanta , Ga. Tuition for day or local students runs about $17,000 per year, while BOARDING list at $32,500 per year and is the prefered method to produce the top merit scholars. None of our children had Tenn schooling so have no 1st hand choices. None of the public high schools had National Merit semi-finalists. "Quality schools are also necessary to Draw quality Professional Parents into the county" was one CEO comment. Family tradition Legacy is close to 50% in some of the elementary schools. Most High schools mentioned they are Expanding the Boarding facilities to reach the 50% Goal.
