I grew up in the Chattanooga area. (Ooltewah) and now live in the Nashville area (Smyrna). I've lived here for about 12 years. Chattanooga has more of a small town feel. Anywhere you go, you will bump in to someone you know. Nashville is large enough that you rarely bump into someone you know. I would prefer to live in Chattanooga because I like smaller towns, but being a single woman I can make much more money in Nashville and the cost of living is not much more in Nashville. Chattanooga is much more scenic and there are tons of outdoor activities and festivals. Nashville has lots of shopping and more upscale dining. Chattanooga is only 2 hours from Atlanta and Nashville and only a little over an hour to Knoxville. If you travel a lot its nearly impossible to fly out of Chattanooga without having to stop in Atlanta.
