Palmetto Bugs in Chatt?
I am moving up to chatt from FL this summer, thank God, but one question I need to have answered is this; are Palmetto bugs (huge roaches or water bugs ) common in Chatt area? Please, I can't stand them and need to know.
Thanks ahead of time.

I moved from Palmetto, Fl almost 2 yrs ago and have not seen one yet! Those were disgusting.... and they could fly! We do get invaded by ladybugs and some kind of centipedes once or twice a year and can't figure out how they get into the house!

Actually they are not attracted to dirt or germs, but to warmth and dry darks areas. I can handle lady bugs and centipedes, at least they don't crawl into my shower through the drain, or into my bed for warmth. EWWWW!!! I am moving using mostly plastic containers and using spray to make sure nothing hitchhikes up with me!!!!! Good news, is my hubby has a job offer, and now we just need a room for him to stay in till I can get up in June and we get a house. Thanks

You see them occasionally, even in the cleanest houses. But only occasionally. They are disgusting!

Yes, we've seen 2 since we've been here and they are VERY disgusting. One night I was sitting in our recliner, watching tv and I catch a glimpse of one strolling into our new condo, huge, shiny and strolling -- in no rush. Then all of the sudden, as if it forgot something it goes back out through the doorway to the hallway and then comes right back and stops by the lamp. Let the screaming begin! I ran like the chicken I am and got my husband who wearily woke up, grabbed a shoe, followed me down our long hallway and lifted the shoe high into the air, ready to womp the bug, when he stopped, did a double-take and said, "maaaan, that's a big one" and then the lights went out for the bug. Must add we live by a huge open field and seen our share of bugs; some we've never seen but nothing flying and hissing or moving around in a menacing way.
