When we moved to Chattanooga we were limited where to live related to what school our kids would go to. There is about 10 to 12 great public schools in the Chattanooga area. (GreatSchools.net) We settled on signal mtn 'cause no one could tell us anything bad about signal mountain. We drove up and was blown away...mid June temperature 77 degrees, you could smell the honeysuckle, and everyone was incredibly friendly. Just a small town feel...something we longed for coming from a town of 300,000. After 1 month here though, we have reconsidered our move. For one thing there are no sidewalks in the majority of the neighborhoods, so your kids will be bored. And my wife and I can't let our kids play in the streets. The streets are way too steep for riding bikes and my wife is having a hard time running the hills. There are many touristy things to do here but once you see 'em you are done with 'em. "Been there, done that!" We use to complain about traffic in Tampa, but here everything is 20 minutes away, and coming off the mountain is becoming very old. There are neighborhoods that have sidewalks, but the ones we saw had poor performing schools. If you can foot the bill for private schools, then this doesn't apply to you. Tennessee has no school choice program like Florida either, so you go where you are zoned.

Try Colonial Shores in Hixson, it's a safe and quiet neighborhood.

HECDEB, I'm not trying to be insulting, but it would appear that your zeal for negativity is clouding your perception of the facts. There are extremely severe federal penalties for polluting our river and as a member of the Unites States Coast Guard I can assure you it's not happening. I swim in it, fish in it, boat in it, and, yes, drink it.

hey everyone,
thought I'd stop in and say that I moved here 5 monthas ago from upstate NY. and for anyone moving into town, thought you may like to hear the impression from an outsider.
I must say that I have enjoyed living here. It is an extremely beautiful area. We choose look out valley for our home. nice neighbor hood, we have 2 kids. great neighbors. Not crazy about what the school has to offer kids other than education, but they are great as far as educationis concerned. though must point out in saying that its not their fault...the state is to have the say!
Just not used to it, however, I have found that What I thought that the schools lacked, the community offers ten fold!! There are always things to do in the community....which I love. And from where Im from I feel like you can do things down here with your kids and as a family and not always spend an arm and a leg to do it

all in all I will be moving in just a couple weks again due to my husband being relocated due to his job but, I have had a great experience in TN...one I will never forget!!

Thanks TN
