Maybe moving to Chattanooga. Where is a nice, large, Baptist church someone would recommend? Thanks

I've been driving around looking at houses all week and I've never seen so many churches. The churches in Chattanooga are mostly either "black" or "white," depending on the neighborhood they are in. So, it would depend on where you live and whether you are black or white.

"a church on every corner" or so they say.
Is the "church" the building, or is it the "people in the steeple" ?

We are part of a nondenominational church, but two large churches that I have heard good things about are Silverdale Baptist and Bayside Baptist....Not sure about too many others, but I do know people who attend both and really like them. HTH!!

That was my thought all Saturday, when I realised I still hadn't made a decision on a church. So while I'm not picky on denominations, blk or white, I do look for civic activities and youth programs. They also must not look down on me for not attending every week. It's also great to have friends you like to be with there, so that is a consideration, as I'm hitting the 40 soon!!!! YEAH!! I've almost made it!!

This is from a LARGE church in Hixson close to Northgate Mall. My little brother went there and loved the youth programs like Family Movie night, inner city block parties, etc...

Community Baptist in East Ridge is a good, sound Baptist church.
Faith Baptist is also a good church. Here's their web site: Faith Baptist Church

Central Baptist in Hixson
I believe Central has something like 3 - 5 thousand members.. Something like that. It's a pretty big church. jkmewright linked their website.

there's a big one on E. Brainerd, right off I-75: Concord Baptist. It's huge, has tons of programs. I put my kid in the week-long "super adventure camp" they had earlier this summer and I didn't really like it. Disorganized (for such a big operation) & a pain to pick up the kids in the afternoons.
currently we are attending the Unitarian Universalist church of Chattanooga & we've been EXTREMELY happy with it! www.uuc.org
