I am bring a youth group up in a couple of weeks and we are looking for a good place to go tubing! We'd like a place that we could do in an afternoon and that rents tubes.

Thank you!!

Hi there! I forwarded this on to someone who may have some ideas. He will let me know or respond here if he does. I really don't know where you might find them. Sounds like fun!

Hi again! Here was my friend's reply about tubing....I did edit phone numbers, but I can DM them to you if you need them. Hope this helps!

I’m not sure of anyone who does “tubing” but there are plenty of people who do rafting. It sounds like they are wanting a more laid back water trip. In that case I’d recommend two programs:

1. Hiwassee River rafting through Hiwassee Outfitters (http://www.hiwasseeoutfitters.com/ (broken link)). They will rent out rafts to groups to go down the Hiwasee. They also have camping spots available. And I bet that they offer tubing as well.

2. Sequatchie River Canoeing: http://www.sequatchie.com/canoe.htm
This program is less exhilarating but very popular as well

Of course they could also try to call YMCA Camp Ocoee, the Christian camp where I worked for several years. They may be able to also facilitate a program for them.

Another resource for them to look at is Outdoor Chattanooga: Outdoor Chattanooga

They list all type of great outdoor adventure opportunities in the area

Thumbs up Ocoee Olympic CENTER

J: BB has you pointed in the most popular area for summer fun. These are winter time pictures of the 96 Olympic site musuem center , which is worth a visit. People can walk / hike on both sides of the water.
.
.Never went on a guide trip, as summer of 07 very drought cond. The few major OUTFITTERS had to enter into a long term multi- Million $ Mortgage agreement with TVA to purchase the Water RELEASE Rights on various Saturdays. You may be quoted different rates for different weekends, Heard a overnight package was really being Pushed vs a day trip, to re-coup those expenses, but group may have more fun around a campfire/ music , etc.

Go up US 64 from the Cleveland area (East from Cleveland toward Murphy, NC) to the Ocoee Region. Some good gentle tubing can be found on the Ocoee River UPSTREAM of the whitewater section based in Copperhill, TN/McCaysville GA (the same town on two different sides of the state line which runs right through the middle of the town). The Toccoa River (same as the Ocoee River, just on the Georgia side of the line) offers great relaxing tubing about 1-1.5 hours from downtown Chattanooga or 45 minutes or so from Cleveland, TN. Check out Rolling Thunder River Company to get set up.

Toccoa River inner tubing, float trips in north Georgia canoes and funyaks

Good luck

Default ocoee rafting

We just came back from rafting the ocoee river. It was awesome, we did the upper (olympic) and middle section. It was great, seemed better than when we did the pigeon river. We looked for tubing areas, and saw some in copperhill, it just wasnt what we were looking for, compared with a great tubing experience in townsend, but better than not at all. It seems that there is more tubing places around the benton area, rt 411 north of rt 64, that part seems more tube friendly. You will have a great time in the area, there just isnt alot of resturaunt options.
