Places to eat in Chattanooga
Ok, my husband feels I left out too many eateries in my last post. I was just using them as examples, but to placate him I will make a more thorough list.
Aretha Frankensteins aretha frankensteins
Very cool little place on Tremont. Try the waffle on insane greatness, you won't be disappointed.
Crust Crust Pizza, Chattanooga, TN 37405
Owned by the same people that own Aretha's. Super thin pizza that is deceptively filling.
Sugar's Ribs Sugar’s Ribs - BBQ Chattanooga, TN
I am not a huge BBQ fan, but this place is amazing. You don't have to chew the pork, it just kind of melts.
City Cafe Diner City Cafe Diner, Chattanooga - Restaurant Reviews - TripAdvisor
Come hungry! You get an obscene amount of food. The wait staff is really nice. Parking is kind of difficult because it is located in a Days Inn. Open 24 hours.
River Street Deli River Street Deli of Chattanooga, TN
I cannot say enough good things about this place. I have never been disappointed in anything I have had here. The roast beef sandwich is great, and better key lime pie than I ever had in Key West!
Easy Seafood Company Easy Seafood Bistro & Bar - Chattanooga, TN
Fresh seafood in Chattanooga TN? Go figure. Also never been disappointed. The portions are good, and the owner/chef was trained in New Orleans. Menu changes daily so you'll never be devoid of selection.
River Street Grille River Street Grille - In Histortic Ellijay
Great Sunday brunch, and a bloody mary bar. (If that is your thing.)
Cheeburger Cheeburger http://cheeburger.com/home2/index.asp
Originated in Florida, cool 50's diner feel. Massive burgers with limitless topping options. So many milkshake options I have lost count. And if you eat the one pound burger, you get your picture on the wall and get to keep a silly hat.
North Chatt Cat North Chatt Cat, Chattanooga - Restaurant Reviews - TripAdvisor
Also a very good burger.
The Pickle Barrel The Pickle Barrel Restaurant, Chattanooga, TN : Reviews and maps - Yahoo! Local
Great little local hole in the wall. Good food, nice people. It is a bar, so you must be 21 or over, but it is one of the few places you can smoke inside if that matters to you.
Sweeney's BBQ Sweeney's Pit BBQ, Chattanooga, TN : Reviews and maps - Yahoo! Local
North Carolina style BBQ. Very Quaint.
Acropolis Grill The Acropolis Four Star Grill - Chattanooga, TN
Not bad for a chain type restaurant. It is not traditional Greek, it's "Americanized" a little. Extensive menu. My only warning is stay away from the tiramisu. Es no bueno.
Mr. T's Pizza & Ice Cream Mr T's Pizza St Elmo - Chattanooga, TN, 37409 - Citysearch
Takes me back to the 80's. They even have an old sit down Pac Man machine. In St Elmo at the bottom of the Incline Railway.

Best Dining Spots
Here are my wife's and my favs . . .
Hennen's steak is top notch. Puts Ruth's to shame. Different cooking method than most, and filets taste aged. For 1/2 the price of Ruth's to boot.
Terra Nostra on Frazier (North Shore) probably has the best food in the city. Their consistently excellent food with a multitude of options is definitely tied with Hennen's for our favorite date spot. From Morroccan crepes to rack of lamb, all I can say is yum.
For pizza, we love the hole in the wall Pisa Pizza by the Chattanooga theater center. They can make thin crust if you ask. It is a dive, but the pizza is definitely good.
For BBQ Shufords on Signal Mtn Rd just past the Wal Mart area looks a little run down but their food is really good.
If you are going up Lookout Mountain, there is a little restaurant with great outdoor dining called the Lookout Cafe, definitely good food in a really nice atmosphere.
Here's a secret: If you want the best Italian (Northern, not like Olive Garden -- upscale Italian) there is a restaurant on Broad S of 24 in the southern saddlery building called Boccaccia. You need a reservation, and I think its primarily a spot for the LM crowd to dine. I think the reservation policy discourages the tourists - on purpose. Google it.
For good Thai try Thai Smile downtown. It looks a little odd from the outside (like a bar) but the food is good and it's what you'd expect inside.
Here is something . . . if I were think of going to X, where I would go instead . . .
Back Inn Cafe . . . go to Hennen's
Easy Seafood . . . go to The Boathouse (5 mins drive on Amnicola from DT)
Cheeburger Cheeburger . . . go to Blue Plate (On the waterfront next to the Aquarium)
Mellow Mushroom . . . go to Pisa Pizza
Hope that helps out.

For the best Chinese, try Mandarin Garden. Every time I go to visit family, I visit MG daily.
