rentals
I would check out Chattanooga, TN Apartments and Houses for Rent, Local Apartment and Home Rentals, House, Townhome, and Condo Rentals, Vacation Rentals, Roommate and Sublet Classifieds :: Search Results - Page 1 they have a lot of house rentals. North Chatt has a lot of nice rentals, I don't think there are any houses for rent in Ridgeside. N Catt is also really close to downtown. If I was to rent, it would definitely be in North Chatt.

This is a a great post, but I don't think Hixson and East Brainerd are too far from downtown. I think it's worth the 15 minute drive to downtown to be in a safe and clean neighborhood. Chattanooga proper has way too many "bad neighborhoods." I also liked some parts of East Ridge, which is also closer to downtown. I was also in Harrison this week and found it beautiful, although even further out. I also didn't want a home as old as the ones in Ridgedale, as they all needed major repairs, updating and other work, like wiring and plumbing upgrades. Like you said, everyone has their own opinion. I, however, don't have a bellybutton!!

u4icmusic . . . have no problem at all with your opinion and if you want sparkly and newer E Brainerd is super. I do take a little issue with your opinion that the houses in Ridgeside need major repairs . . .
here's a pic of our "fixer upper" -- not!

Gorgeous house! It looks newer than some of the other houses in that area, but your budget was also a lot higher than most people moving here. I wish you the best of luck on this house, it really is superb, at least from the outside.

you might be confused
U4icmusic, our house is typical for our neighborhood. I notice you mentioned 'ridgedale' above. I'm talking about Ridgeside. I think you might be thinking of the wrong area. Here are 2 other current listings in our neighborhood . . .

I drove around the area today. It's really hard to find. I had to use my GPS. It's a really nice nieghborhood, but It's surrounded by slums and nearby low income housing. I hope you have a neighborhood watch group being so close to such bad elements.

Das, you know the little semi circle road at the bottom of the hill called Crescent Park? Is that part of Ridgeside? There's a home down there I have coveted for years that was empty for a long time. We actually looked at buying it last year but it wasn't the right time so I let it go. We coulda been neighbors.

Crescent Park - part of Ridgeside
jkme, yep, crescent park is part of Ridgeside. Sorry you didn't get it! If you ever do find one you like in the neighborhood let me know and you can stop by and we'll be happy to tour you around and meet some neighbors etc. I don't know if you are aware, we also have a pool, tennis courts and nice park only for residents. Its a great community.
u4ic, you'll be happy to know that there is a strong police presence in the neighborhood, which is actually its own town. Our taxes go to Ridgeside, not Chattanooga, and we have constant contracted patrols that keep the neighborhood crime-free. Thanks so much for your concern!
