Default Moving and building in Mounteagle/Sewanee

My wife and I bought a bluff lot in Sewanee (Jackson Point Rd area). I am retired USAF and my wife is a "soon-to-be retired" nurse. We currently live in OH about one hour south of Cleveland. We plan on building our retirement home there. Would love to hear any info about the area. Also if anyone lives in Mounteagle/Sewanee area would like to exchange email. The only people we have met are realtors etc. We had our first meal at "Perls" and were very impressed with the meal and the ambiance.

Thumbs up Welcome

HELLO J: You should have a good area to move / visit / explore all 4 directions from Monteagle. This area referred as the "Grand Canyon of the East" . Tenn river passes thru steep mtn cuts of the south end of Walden ridge or Cumberland Plateau. Lots of hiking activity here and state parks.
We are N.W. of Chattanooga, & another member visits UP on the Plateau ridge near Fire Tower. Jasper South Pittsburg is growing area, and have nice summer fireworks, festivals. Fall is bigger Outboard Boat Drag racing.
Vietnam Army vet & Mother was a Nurse over 50 yrs, so if you wish to visit ,more than welcome. Think you will like the weather better in that area. Know Ohio had a testy time in the past Year. Sounds like you a high enough not to worry about a flood.

J: sounds like you have a good idea and plan. I'm next door in Massillon and retired Air Guard, plus... been seeking a warmer winter climate for a permanent move. Did you purchase acerage? What caused you to decide on Tennessee? I'm still working (part time) and love my job, but rapidly running out of the ability to endure many more Ohio winters. Be interested in learning about your decision to move to Sewanee and anything else you can share about your search for relocation when you get a chance. Thanks. Larry C
