Unhappy Just when you thought it couldn't get worst...

I am experiencing what feels like the 2nd worst day of my LIFE here...

Y'all know everything is pretty much planned out & arranged for the move back to the US/TN, hubby fly's next week....

Part of the decision to go back was also my Job here, that I got 3 promotions with but in essence really seemed like a dead end Rd to set up Events & on a side note do Dept finials (couple Mio $) til the end of my days.

Operations Boss call's me in his office this morning "Well your outstanding performance & experiences etc pp blah blah ... spoke with the CEO last week blah blah...well we all agree from th upper Mgmt that you will get a promotion past 2 pay grades to become the Financial Controller/ Manager now"
ME flipping almost backwards of the chair having to play all along with the game (cause Work don't know about the move yet)

I have been waiting for this darn day forever and NOW that along with other stuff we decided to go back home NOW they wanna promote me not just 2 pay's up, but also from the Team Level to Mgmt

On top its a real big US Company (all of you military or Govt people will know) that I work for, so Mgmt Level & that Company's name on a Resume is def. worth big bucks few yrs down the Rd....but we're moving....ahhhhhh now what? Back to US and start AGAIN form scratch to built something up?

Anyone got any smart or dull advise for me? Right now I just feel totally sick to my tummy....

It sounds like this promotion might be a great opportunity for you. You may want to consider staying there with that company for a couple of years. After you've got a couple of years experience, you could again look into moving to Tennessee. Two years of experience at that level will look great on your resume. I know this is a difficult decision as I understand how you feel. I also want to move to Tennessee, but I can't do it now either. I'm trying to be patient.

Tell them. Be honest and up front. They will appreciate that as they are rejecting others for that position and will have to start over again once they know. Being a concerned employee can go a long way. Ask for a recommendation from them and I bet it will be a good one if you tell them NOW. Plus you can ask for recommendations as to where your skills and willingness to work might best be used or appreciated here. They may have affiliates or associated companies they will recommend you to. It could be at an equivalent position.

As a business owner I would want to know and would be more inclined to help you if I knew you were leaving and could use the help.

I think you should count your blessings! Work is not that abundant in Chattanooga by no means.

Me staying would mean separation for X yrs from hubby then, cause he's gone to TN. I've done this once for the Iraq Deployment for well over 1 yrs and I will not be bale to do this over again, not for all the money in the world.

No they're not rejecting others at all, the position is actually created for and around ME only. Of cause once its built up then I'd need a replacement yes.
We don't have a branch in TN, all our branches are either located with the Govt/ Military or in Detroit with our main customer :-(

@MountainAire: I understand you completely and would say the same if I was "on the other side" but how do you weight money / family.

Family is the #1 priority. If you are so great now that you are leaving and they are finally doing the right thing for you at work; how come they didn't do this 6 months ago? You are great and deserved it then. I am always suspicious of opportunities that pop up as someone has one foot out the door.

Jobs come and go; family is forever. Do what is best for you and the family. Good luck.

I guess it helps to add the fact that in our company the turn over rate is HIGH, I mean REALLY high, I am one of the most senior ppl here with almost 3 yrs.
As for me, I am actually facing to deal with Manager No 3 for this year alone now....so much for that...

And yes I absolutly agree on the family! That's why I'll just follow hubby asap when things are sorted out in TN and I can get a flight outta here. Better that is.

Our next closest office would be in St Pete FL.
In the end of the day we decided: Screw them coming to see this sooo late. WE want to settle in life finally and decided to do so in TN. Top1 is my hubby Top2 my dogs and Top3 family so as you can see work come wayyyy after that. Who cares as long as I can pay the bills at home where I really work.
