Polish Food?
Are there any restaurants or stores that sell Polish food in the area? I'm looking for sauerkraut pierogis and can't seem to find them anywhere.

And if you find the sauerkraut ones...the potato and cheese ones can't be far behind! I have not found fresh ones since I left MI 15 years ago. I've had to be satisfied with Mrs. T's frozen ones. That would be wonderful if someone knows where to find fresh ones in the Chattanooga area.

I can't even find Mrs. T's frozen ones with Sauerkraut inside. I can only find the potato and cheese at Walmart or Publix. I used to get the best ones in Hamtramck just outside of Detroit (acutally surrounded by Detroit).

I didn't have to go all the way to Hamtramck to get them. The deli counter at Meijer's actually carried some that were pretty darn good. Of course, like I said, that was 15 years ago, I don't know if they still carry them. Now that I'm moving to TN I'll be close enough to visit MI more and be able to bring some back. My sister shops at Meijer's all the time, I'll ask her to look for me. And you're right...I can only find the potato/cheese ones frozen, too.

Looks like you have found an unmet need in Chattanooga. Sounds like a business opportunity to me.

Yes there are as I am Polish. Have started to meet others in Chattanooga- some older emigration and some newer. It is not Chicago but I have found you can find Poles everywhere.
Regarding the pierogis that is more difficult. I get the potato and cheese ones at Trader Joe's in Atlanta. No luck locally unless you make them yourself.

Publix and Walmart sell the potato and cheese as well as the cheese and onion pierogies in the freezer section. They are Mrs. T's brand. I'm trying to get the Publix manager to order a case of the sauerkraut ones for me, but so far it hasn't happened.
