Hi. I am a 40 year old single gay father to a 20 month old daughter. We are re-locating to Chattanooga and I need some help. I am looking to find a more liberal leaning neighborhood, but one that is good for families. Schools, of course, are important, and I have always been an advocate of attending public schools. I have always lived in SF. I am hoping to find that 'Leave it to Beaver' place, where kids can play outside, there is a 'Main Street' with local merchants, and we feel welcome, both as a father and a gay-headed family. I dont mind more conservative places (I am very traditional, myself) but I don't want to put myself or my daughter at risk for harm. Any feedback is welcomed! Thanks everyone.

welcome to the scenic city! a little more info may yield better advice. are you looking to rent or buy? (we rented the first year to determine which part of town to buy in) you'll probably be pleasantly surprised at costs here compared to San Fran, but do you have a budget in mind?
