Default between chattanooga and Asheville

Hello...we are considering relocating to Tenn. We have looked in the Georgia Mountain area and have seen some nice places. After investegating Georgia's taxes we like the idea of no income tax in Tennessee. Therfore we are now looking into this state. We love the mountains and would like to find an area somewhere just north of Georgia between Chattanooga and Ashville. We are looking for an area with some new home development and a small town atmosphere. We are not looking for log cabins or vacation type homes. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You may want to look into the area around Maryville. I think it's a really nice small/medium size town and very close to the mountains (Great Smokies). Some of the addresses for Maryville are actually in the mountains and near the NC border; others have mountain views. There are also nice small towns just off I-75 between Chattanooga and Knoxville. Do a search on this forum for Maryville and you'll have at least a snapshot of the area.

If you want to be just north of Georgia, then maybe Cleveland (Bradley County) is someplace you should investigate. The drive from Cleveland into NC (US 64) is absolutely breathtaking.

If you like whitewater rafting, the Ocoee River area is some of the best in the USA. The 1996 Olympics had the rafting event there. It's halfway between Chattanooga and NC.

Um, Chattanooga is mildly accepting, we only have 3 clubs so if you like the nightlife, it gets redundant. Our newly revitalized urban areas seem to house alot of gay couples and Chatt is getting a little more "socialized" as it grows. We are however just 1 1/2 hrs away from 3 large cities (Knoxville, Nashville and Atlanta). Knoxville and Nashville I don't know except a couple of clubs. Atlanta is great if GA is an place you have cosidered.

Does cable internet access exist in these areas? This was a major issue of ours when we were looking in WNC. Least the lack of it became a major issue for us.

Is Tenn any different?
