Just wondering if that coal ash spill in Kingston has affected the Chattanooga area (specifically Ooltewah)? Can't seem to find a map to see what their proximity is.
Chattanooga’s water utility and the city’s Public Works Department have expanded their monitoring of the Tennessee River to ensure no toxic materials contaminate the local water supply from fly ash that spilled into a river 115 miles upstream.
Find the TVA Power Plant in Kingston on MapQuest Ariel map.... then look at the valley NW of the retention pond and follow that up to Harriman .. theirs another valley that runs some what North that got some of the sludge....

60 Minutes just did a show about it.
Coal Ash: 130 Million Tons of Waste When coal ash is disposed of in dry, lined impoundments it is said to be safe. But it's often dumped into wet ponds - there are nearly 500 of them across the country - and in those cases the ash could pose health risks to the nearby communities.
The comments below the article are really interesting.
This isn't just Tennessee, other states are affected by coal ash as well.

That is not true. TVA announced that all electricity users are going to have to pay for the cleanup with higher utility bills. Personally, I think the stockholders should be held responsible for the clean up.
It seems that a lot of houses are for sale in Harriman and Rockford. Could it be from the spill ? Does anyone know if it's hazardous ? Maybe I just didn't notice so many houses for sale in that area.
