Read this as pure schtick: "there's a reason Bon Jovi never toured here"

Actually, I haven't run into anyone from Jersey here. Most of the NY'ers are "halfbacks"

I've spoken with some people from my home state that said they didn't care for TN. I put very little stock in their assessment prefering more to ask questions from persons native to the area and those who chose to be here.

We can learn a lot from a lot from each other.

I cannot think of any forum members that have moved from Jersey to Chatt. I know there are some in other areas (Nashville, Knoxville) that participate on this forum. That might be of some help?

a friend of mine is from Jersey and moved here and lived here for about 5 years. He says that he loved it here. He moved back to Jersey to be close to this family and became a firefighter. But i know a lot of transplants here that say they absolutely love it here.

Yeah... I dunno, man. The pay here is pathetic, but I pay under $300 a month for rent for an apartment (and I dont live in a bad area). Plus it's no secret that houses that are $200,000 in Nashville are far less here. I know that's a bad comparison since Nashville isn't Philadelphia, but still, I can't buy that cost of living here is high when compared to any other given area I've lived. (Except maybe bowling green, ky.)

Gosh, I'm surprised to hear someone say the cost of living is just as high. I hope things get better for you though. I am not sure how Jersey compares to NY State (my family is in Rochester), but my family there is jealous at the difference in taxes we pay on our house and we have no state income tax. We pay a 1/3 of what my brother up there pays for a similar priced house in taxes. Our sales tax is a bit higher than NY, but not a whole lot.

I have a co-worker who moved here years ago from NJ and absolutely loves it here. He says he doesn't see himself going back. I don't have details, but that's what he says.
