Burns me to no end to hear about people doing this. If you move and/or can't afford to keep a dog just call one of the rescue groups and they can most likely take it in and adopt it out.

I'm not sure what your local laws are, but if you do find out they did indeed abandon the dog, some states will track down where the folks moved to, and if it's in the same state, they can be charged with animal cruelty for abandoning pets.

I try to read the paper daily and catch the new broadcasts occasionally - must have missed those reports. It's surprising because we toured the facility, met a number of the staff, and thought everything looked really good.

If you see any more bad reports, please alert me to their presence.

The dog is home! Next door neighbor came over with the pit this afternoon. Apparently, after series of phone calls along with the neighbors telling them they saw me chasing the dog when they got back; they realized the dog was gone ~ said he came back home, scratched on the door last night. He might have been coming home before that, but they just got home?? She brought him over to our house and he almost ran down our hallway - he sniffed my shoe and headed right in; he looked fine. She pulled him back, "that's not your house!" She apologized to me, said she knows he's just wild and hard to handle. Also said that she appreciated me trying to hang on to him so that he didn't get lose but knows thats very difficult because he's not too trained right now. I told her I came over, knocked on her door, blah, blah, she seemed to talk past that and just thanked me. Obviously now that I've seen her, I know they haven't moved but I don't know where in the world they were Maybe the person who should have been taking care of the dog, dropped the ball? Or maybe they stayed longer than they thought they were going to? Something is kinda fishy, I'm not sure what. But I won't pry. If I see that cutie pie dog lose again, I'll call the # Tri mentioned @ McKamey -maybe that will sober them up or get them to give the dog up to someone who can give it the proper attention? I was glad to see the dog was okay though, that was really bothering me.
