Default Solar panel maker to create 500 jobs in Bradley Co.

A German chemical company will build a $1 billion facility to make components for solar panels here and create 500 more jobs, officials announced today.

Dr. Rudolph Staudigl, president and CEO of Wacker Chemie AG of Munich, Germany, said the new plant will make hyperpure polycrystalline silicon to meet the growing needs of America’s solar energy industry. The company will build a plant on a 550-acre site it is buying near the Hiwassee Industrial Park in the Charleston community of Bradley County.

This is one reason I cannot wait to, God willing, transfer to either Chattanooga or Knoxville. Jobs in MI are going away on a weekly basis. Congrats.
